Short Impressions

as i am concered it should be at the top
- Colin R. O'Haran
I got it on the 14th I got up at 4:30am to play
the game. Idropped so many nukes on my enemies it not even funny(but maybe a
nuclear winter). It was worth the wait Napoleon.

EE has great potential, but it's going to fall flat unless new scenarios and
campaigns are created. The random game is too broad and unbalanced and the
original campaigns only cover a portion of the epochs. I think the siege
weaponry should have had accompanying personnel like the machine gunner. And I
agree the the reviews that the AI is too good at economy and too poor at
tactics, the large units move too fast, the human units die too comically, and
resource gathering should have mirrored the epoch (pick-axe mining in modern
age). Personally, I think EE would have been much better if it incorporated
supply lines. The random game should have had a tech tree to restrict the unit
types- minimally a 'no religion' option. In general, EE needs to eliminate the
AOE model and go with ones that are proven to be fun, challenging and replayable.
I do want EE to succeed- I see at least 3 or 4 good games in there, but I think
it will require additional development.
- Charlie Stear
The problem I have with the game, and believe me ,
its very frustrating- Rick Goodman left to design this game after AOE , but
before AOK. Now this means we have no garrisonning, and no formations. The
formations we DO have arrange the units after they get to their destination,
as opposed to during. The other problem is ... you get through the epochs
WAAAAY to quickly. Provided you have the resources, which are easy to get( I
rather prefer the gold mines in AOK to the ones in EE). I enjoy EE, but it
just p****s me off. Dont get me started on the computer, either. After
wondering why this ocmputer advances to the next age the millisecond I do, I
go into the map editor and discover theres a checkbox allowing the computer to
cheat. So, obviously the AI is so godawful it has to cheat in order to pose a
significant threat to the player.
- GrimoresMe and my housemates have been playing it non stop, It is fantastic to be
able to have a multiplayer game were there are so many choices available, being
able to have epic world war 2 battles is the best, and the fact that this is
just one part of the game is amazing.

My first impressions of Empire Earth:
It looks too much like Age of Empires in 3D...
I even recognize some of the sounds that seem to have been borrowed from AOE2.
(guard tower, archer building) The 3D IS good. Looks very impressive, good
detail, unlike the weird little people in Black & White. I haven't seen most of
the game yet. I get the feeling it takes WAY too long to evolve to the next
epoch. (You need to save up a lot of resources, and there's a limit on how many
citizens can work on one resource at a time...) I fear that the diplomacy model
is EXACTLY like that in AOE, which would essentially make this game quiet
boring, because then we're back seeing who can build the most units in and
clobber the other guy... I would like to see something in the league of Civ 3,
which I feel has one of the best diplomacy models around. Initially I thought
this game was going to be a cross between Civiliation and Age of Empires, but
now I feel that the only thing they used from Civilization is the fact that the
'team' you control is called a 'civilization'.
From the screenshots I feel that this game is going to get better the further I
get into it, but my VERY first impression was that it wasn't anything new, just
AOE in 3D...

Having just played my first
games of EE I must admit to being impressed! One problem I really despise is
the abandoned buildings (walls especially) that somehow remain under the control
of the enemy! This may work after automated servomechanics are discovered but an
abandoned wall in pre -indusrial periods should be the property of any player
who can occupy/hold it. In addition we all know an AI can perform tasks faster
than a human player and yet I still see this tired practice used in place of a
well designed AI! Lets not turn a strategy game into a reflex game for sugar
hyped children. Now to the scenario editor, This is by far one of the very best
editors ever! It would be nice if it was actually supported. Editors are often
advertised as part of a games features and yet any attempt to get assistance
with them results in a response claiming that "we do not support any user
edited/created aspects of the game etc." This policy is all to common and is
also very bad customer relations.

Having played it at a friends house on the day of release I was blown away, I went out the next day for a copy, brought it home and found it to be totally unplayable on my machine!! rang the tech line, got zero help there! my system is higher spec than my friends but with different components, any one else with the following setup beware, AMD K62 500mhz - 128mb ram - Geforce2 mx 32mb graphics - SoundBlaster AWE64 sound - 52 speed CD ROM - 20gb HD, plays like a snail, help me please....
- Tony Linton
Good !!!!!!!! I can't stop to play it until late
midnight all thought tomorrow got to work.
- Teoh Kean YawIts ok, plenty of units,
random map can be a little tedious, nearly impossible to win without playing for
8+ hours. But really a great game, have to say I was hoping for Tomahawk cruise
missiles launched from ships, and maybe a Modern Epoch navy rather then the same
stuff used in WWII, but really, a good game.

I love this game! Empire Earth is the best game
science AOK. It has 50 times the units and as many animals as the original
AOE. This game also has GREAT combat, unit don't attack just one guy, they will
attack a group ... that is if needed. The Heroes are also great fun to play
with. All I need to know is just what are diplomats? They are cool to have
walk around and try to protect. But otherwise, this game is great! The air
units are also great, along with the sea, the land, and the buildings. YEAH!
Gotta go play now, hahaha!
- James FolcikThis game must have taken quite a lot of
time to create. There is no other game that comes close to this. WarCraft and
StarCraft take a seat. Not only is this game historically accurate (pretty
close), but the graphics are outstanding. I would recommend this to anyone.
- Keslux
Man I played the Atomic age Moderen...and it blew me away!! So many
options...like attack with tanks, ships, plane. The nuke...the wonders...the
calamities...the.....the game is awesome!!
- Geno Zuccaro
Hey Dude,
EE is the radest game to come out in a while that has caught my very
discriminate eye. It has pushed real time strategy games to the ultimate level.
This is not a repackaged version of earlier games, but an original. Game play
has gone from a few hours a game to half a day (but that could be just me, i was
just trying to see everything in the game before ending it).
Graphics are top notch although I'm disappointed in how the buildings look as
they are built; that detail is overshadowed by everything else in the game.
I've predicted such a game a long time ago, and I'm excited to see that it has
finally come to light. This game has a lot to offer, and has many new units and
buildings around every new epoch reached. What's cool is that from the
beginning caveman ages to the digital epoch and beyond you will be in struggle
with the nearby cultures. The area maps are rich in detail all the way down to
the swaying of trees and wheat. The game interface is just like that of
previous games which makes this game easy for anyone to cross over to. In
general this game kicks ass.

Saw your request about comments. Well here goes-
I'm very disappointed with the mulit-player. No score, no friend enemy "sign",
the multi-players rooms are TERRIBLE. No friends list, NO RECORD. NO RATING
SYSTEM. NO RATING SYSTEM!!!!!!!! In the game itself i'm disappointed with no
way to sell your extra resourses in a "market" I think this game has the
potential of being the "greatest RTS game EVER" I truly love this game but I
wish these features were available. It would turn from a great game to the
best RTS game ever made. IMHO. Thanks. For whatever it's worth I'm a lot
older than most RTS in multi-player. 45 yrs. old.
